"My CWR colleagues "get it" - in fact, they live it! We work toward a common goal: advancing the mission of women religious. There is true wisdom to be found in such a group!"
25TH Anniversary Conference featuring Joan Chittister, OSB
Sr. Joan Chittister is one of the best known and loved writers and international speakers on Benedictine spirituality and social justice in the world today. She has authored more than 700 articles and 60 books which have been translated into numerous languages and garnered 16 Catholic Press Association awards. Her latest books include, The Time is Now: a call for uncommon courage, published in the spring of 2019 by Random House and her National Catholic Reporter web column, From Where I Stand, is routinely reprinted on other websites, newsletters and magazines. Sister Joan is a courageous and sometimes controversial advocate of social justice for all, especially for women, in both church and society. She speaks of “contemporary spirituality” and teaches us how to find God and inner peace in the midst of today’s turbulent world, rather than turning inward away from the world. She served as prioress of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, Pennsylvania for 12 years, as president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, and is currently co-chair of the U.N. sponsored Global Peace Initiative of Women and executive director of Benetvision: a resource and research center for contemporary spirituality.
