In the interest of keeping you informed, the Communicators for Women Religious Board of Directors shares highlights of our monthly meetings. The Board met by videoconference on Monday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. Central.
Spalding Hurst opened the meeting with prayer.
Minutes from the March 21 board videoconference were approved as submitted.
Sister Angela Szczawinska, CSFN, Board Chair, and Kathy Gatliff, Vice Chair, shared the Executive Committee report.
- An orientation for new board members Jennifer Brandlon and Cecilia Rupell was held by videoconference April 19.
- The CWR Policies and Procedures document is in the final stages of revisions after committee review. Board members will review the document prior to the May in-person board meeting, and approve changes at the meeting.
- 2018 Conference Site Selection: Committee members will visit two hotels in Fort Worth, Texas, April 26–27. Colorado Springs and Phoenix are being considered for 2019.
- Conference Scholarship Committee: Two applications were received; the committee is reviewing.
Executive Director Nick Schafer shared highlights from his written report. His recent trip to Washington, D.C., included meetings with LCWR, NCDC, RCRI, Global Sisters Report, and FADICA. Nick also shared has travel schedule for the coming months, including a trip to Rome at the end of May, where he will present a workshop on communication to UISG members.
Sister Beth Kress, PBVM, CWR treasurer, presented a written report on CWR finances for the first quarter of 2017.
Stephanie Hall, co-chair of the 2017 Conference Committee, shared the updated schedule. The Loyola Institute for Ministry and Salt+Light will present a panel on Thursday afternoon. The conference registration materials will be mailed and posted online by mid-May.
Next Board Meeting: In-person meeting May 15–19 at Siena Retreat Center in Racine, Wisconsin.
