As the first National Catholic Sisters Week is celebrated, March 8-14, SisterStories have reached national and local media outlets and social media by nearly 200 groups of Catholic sisters across the United States. The SisterStories have been crafted by professionals, many of whom are members of a professional organization formerly known as the National Communicators Network for Women Religious.

During this National Catholic Sisters Week the Communicators for Women Religious is pleased to announce that it is now officially known by its new name and its new acronym – CWR. In addition to sharing this name-change, CWR is celebrating its 20th year of serving as a network of professionals who promote understanding and advance the mission of Catholic sisters.

A professional organization of personnel responsible for communications within religious congregations of women, the Communicators for Women Religious is also a resource for organizations interested in networking with Catholic sisters.

CWR also has a new web site URL: www.c4wr.org

“After an extensive year’s process, including a survey of our 180-plus members, the CWR Board of Directors proposed this name change at the annual conference this past October in Baltimore,” stated Julie Gilberto-Brady, board chair. “The members in attendance voted almost unanimously to change from NCNWR to CWR. Our organization has grown over the past 20 years, and we feel this name more clearly reflects our present reality. Having completed the legal procedures for this change, we are working hard to tell our constituents, our partners and all of our friends.”
