2026 Catholic Sisters Week: #LikeaCatholicSister — Stories of Hope and Heart
Catholic Sisters Week (March 8–14, 2026) is a national celebration that shines a light on the spirit, service, and strength of Catholic Sisters across the country. Each year, congregations come together to share their stories, uplift their ministries, and invite the wider community to learn more about the women whose lives are dedicated to prayer, compassion, and courageous action.
In 2026, we unite once again under the shared hashtag #LikeaCatholicSister, embracing our national theme: Stories of Hope and Heart. This theme captures the essence of what so many people experience when they encounter Catholic Sisters — hope shared through presence, encouragement, and accompaniment, and heart expressed through tireless service, deep prayer, and unwavering commitment to others.
Last year’s campaign introduced bold, action-forward messages such as “Fighting for the forgotten,” “Breaking stereotypes,” and “Shattering preconceptions.” Those taglines highlighted the courage and leadership Catholic Sisters bring to their ministries and to the world. This year, we continue that energy while widening the lens to focus on the powerful stories behind the sisters’ work.
Stories of Hope and Heart invites congregations, partners, collaborators, and the public to share real moments that reveal who Catholic Sisters are — women grounded in faith, moved by compassion, and dedicated to lifting up those most in need. Our 2026 taglines reflect that balance: bold yet compassionate, strong yet rooted in love and hope.
Whether you know and work closely with Catholic Sisters or are discovering this community for the first time, we invite you to join us. Explore their stories. Celebrate their impact. And consider what it means to live, serve, and love #LikeaCatholicSister.
About Catholic Sisters Week
Catholic Sisters Week began in 2015 as a part of National Women’s History Month. It is now an official component of Women’s History Month. It was authorized by Molly Murphy MacGregor, co-founder of National Women’s History Project, who was educated and deeply influenced by Catholic sisters. In 1981, Women’s History Month launched as a single week. By 1987, U.S. Congress formally expanded it to the full month of March.
Since the fall of 2019, Catholic Sisters Week (formerly National Catholic Sisters Week) is under the direction of Communicators for Women Religious (CWR). As we continue to develop new resources and programming ideas, you will notice both continuity and change, beginning with the name: CWR renamed the initiative “Catholic Sisters Week,” signaling a desire to raise awareness of women religious not just in the United States but also internationally.
Our growing web home, catholicsistersweek.org, will provide space for listing your events, gatherings, campaigns, and activities. This is also where you’ll come to find an event you want to attend, to make a local connection, sign on to an online event, or find ideas for your own events. Information and tools for Catholic Sisters Week 2021 will be landing on this website over the next several months.
