As a wrap-up to Catholic Sisters Week 2026, which was celebrated March 8–14, we want to share a piece of history, courtesy of the Women Religious Archives Collaborative.
Stephanie Hall, Communications Specialist Consultant at Women Religious Archives Collaborative (WRAC)––and long-time CWR member––has crafted a article tracing the origins and evolution of Catholic Sisters Week in honor of this year’s observance. As WRAC is home to the archives of Communicators for Women Religious (CWR), Hall looked to archival materials that document CWR’s work since the late 1990s, writing a piece that takes readers from the initiative’s beginnings in January 2014 through celebration it has become today.
From the Conrad Hilton Foundation’s founding vision to CWR’s growing role at the heart of the observance, the article brings this history to life through the records and voices that lived it.
We invite you to read the full story and celebrate 13 years of making the work of Catholic sisters visible. https://archivescollaborative.org/how-did-catholic-sisters-week-come-to-be/
