The CWR Board of Directors met via videoconference on Tuesday, April 9. In the interest of keeping CWR members informed, we present highlights from the Board meeting:
Jennifer Brandlon led the meeting’s opening prayer.
After the February Board meeting minutes were reviewed and approved and a March 11 electronic Board vote approving the CWR 25th anniversary logo was ratified, CWR Board Chair Kathy Gatliff provided the executive team report.
The Board next reviewed preparations for the CWR 25th anniversary reception to take place May 14 at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago; reporting on CWR’s strategic plan for 2016 to 2019; development of the strategic plan for 2020 to 2022; and upcoming travel commitments.
Executive Director Nick Schafer reported the start of CWR’s audit for fiscal year 2018 and the on-time delivery to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation of CWR’s Hilton grant report.
Treasurer Jean Merry brought the CWR finance report to the Board.
Committee Reports began when 25th Anniversary Committee Chair Cecilia Rupell noted the creation and approval of the 25th anniversary logo and further preparations for the 25th anniversary reception.
Stephanie Manseau relayed the 2019 Conference Committee’s plans for initiatives focusing on new members and new conference attendees.
Rob Cogswell informed the Board of the 2020 Conference Committee’s current areas of emphasis: theme, budget and keynote speaker.
Patricia Lenihan, R.S.C., provided a status report for the budgeting process for CWR: Ireland training programs.
Maxine Kollasch, I.H.M., detailed Cycling with Sisters’ Sister education project, which will provide training for Sisters in the use of mobile devices for videography.
In her Nominating Committee report, Joanne Gallagher, C.S.J., reviewed upcoming Board openings and Board Member term limits. Sister Joanne also referred the Board to the written committee report, which outlines plans to identify potential Board candidates through outreach to CWR members.
In lieu of verbal reports, the Board was referred to written reports from the Conference Development, Conference Scholarship, Education, International Outreach, Marketing and Membership Committees. No report was provided by the Site Selection Committee, which was to visit potential 2021 conference sites April 14-18.
The next Board meeting will be held May 14-16 in Chicago.
