Meet Our Sisters Tour 2021

Visit — virtually or in-person — convents and ministries of Chicagoland Catholic sisters during National Vocation Awareness Week — November 7 – 13, 2021

Chicago area members of Communicators for Women Religious (CWR) invite you to the third annual Meet Our Sisters Tour, a collaborative event during National Vocation Awareness Week to raise awareness of the vast presence of Catholic sisters who live and serve in Chicagoland. This year, the Meet Ours Sisters Tour will feature both in-person and virtual events. The tour is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the life, mission and ministries of Catholic sisters living in Illinois.

Again this year, a host of Chicagoland congregations, communities and ministries will provide opportunities to meet sisters and learn more about how Catholic sisters continue to be a presence in the lives of so many people. The 2021 tour will feature offerings including motherhouse and chapel tours; conversations about mission and ministry; and interactive prayer events. This year’s participants include Benedictine Sisters of Chicago, the Congregation of Sisters of St. Joseph, the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Felician Sisters of North America, Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, Giving Voice, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, School Sisters of Notre Dame, the Sisters of St. Casimir and Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.

What is National Vocation Awareness Week?

National Vocation Awareness Week, sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations, is designed to help promote vocation awareness. This annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States occurs on the first full week in November. NVAW is dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education. NVAW also emphasizes a renewal of our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.

This is your invitation to learn more and to help us build a culture of vocations…

Virtually visit convents and ministries of Chicagoland Catholic Sisters: Tucked between expressways and hidden among the bustle and noise of city and suburban life is the powerful, yet often quiet, influence of Catholic sisters. These women have dedicated their lives to serving God and spreading the kingdom of His love. We invite you to explore the ways Catholic sisters live and work in Chicagoland by joining them online as they share from their homes, their chapels, their heritage rooms, and their ministries during National Vocation Awareness Week.
