The CWR Board of Directors met via videoconference on Tuesday, December 10. In the interest of keeping CWR members informed, we present highlights from the Board meeting:
Joanne Gallagher, CSJ, opened the meeting with An Advent Prayer adapted from Praying a New Story by Michael Morwood.
In the absence of Chair Jennifer Brandlon, who was unavailable for the meeting, incoming Chair Cecilia Rupell oversaw the meeting. In the Executive Committee report, Cecilia reviewed the Executive Committee transition meeting, former CWR Executive Director Nick Schafer’s exit interview and plans for the January Board meeting.
Interim Executive Director Kathy Gatliff updated the Board on the status of CWR’s Conrad Hilton Foundation grant renewal application.
Treasurer Jean Merry’s finance report focused on expectations for the opening months of 2020.
Conference 2020 Committee Chair Rob Cogswell informed the Board that a draft conference schedule has been created.
Patricia Lenihan, RSC, outlined CWR Ireland’s plans for a one-day conference in April 2020.
Incoming Board member and CWR Chicago Regional Group member Tammy Townsend Denny reported on the Chicago Regional Group’s Meet Our Sisters campaign.
Marketing Committee Chair Spalding Hurst and Catholic Sisters Week Task Group Chair Linda Romey, OSB, provided an update on the 2020 Catholic Sisters Week campaign, including the launch of the new Catholic Sisters Week website (www.catholicsistersweek.org). After the Marketing Committee initially served as an advisory body for the 2020 Catholic Sisters Week initiative, the task group chaired by Sr. Linda has now taken over oversight of the campaign.
The meeting concluded with the Board offering its thanks to outgoing members Stephanie Hall and Angela Szczawinska, CSFN, for their service.
The Board will next meet January 27-30 in Chicago.
