Cultures are now merging from traditional spheres of communication into one dynamic global landscape, and the role of the global communicator has taken center stage. Communication motivates people to think, feel, and take action. Becoming a global communicator requires expanding our mindset and communication skills for creating high-impact and positive change. Gain actionable communication tips to connect more deeply with today’s diverse audiences and bridge communication around the world. You will supercharge your communication skills with dynamic public speaking techniques, storytelling patterns, cultural frameworks, advanced persuasive strategies, and key communication approaches. Dan Bullock is a language and communications specialist/trainer at the United Nations Secretariat, training diplomats and global UN staff. He also serves as faculty teaching business communication, linguistics, and public relations within the Division of Programs in Business at New York University’s School of Professional Studies. Dan was the director of corporate communications at a leading NYC public relations firm, and his corporate clients have included TD Bank and Pfizer. He contributes to Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, Quartz, Yahoo! News, and Fast Company, where he writes about the intersection of global business communication, intercultural communication, and professional development. Dan is the co-author of How to Communicate Effectively with Anyone, Anywhere (Career Press 2021).
Raúl Sánchez is an award-winning clinical assistant professor and the corporate program coordinator at New York University’s School of Professional Studies. He has designed and delivered corporate trainings for Deloitte, Anheuser-Busch, and the United Nations, as well as been a writing consultant for Barnes & Noble Press and PBS. Raúl was awarded the NYU School of Professional Studies Teaching Excellence Award and specializes in linguistics and business communication. He contributes to Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, Quartz, Yahoo! News, Fast Company, HuffPost, Business.com, openDemocracy, and Thrive Global, where he writes about the intersection of global business communication, leadership, and intercultural communication. Raúl is the co-author of How to Communicate Effectively with Anyone, Anywhere (Career Press 2021).
Rod Sánchez is an award-winning visual communication designer, artist, and filmmaker. He is a lead user experience/user interface designer at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and has designed and illustrated book covers for Penguin Random House and Scholastic. Rod has directed and designed campaigns for Disney, Nickelodeon, and Baruch College–CUNY and received design awards from the New England Book Show and the Create Awards. Rod’s artwork has been exhibited internationally, displayed on billboards in New York City, and published in The Guardian, United Nations Academic Impact magazine, HuffPost, El País, Thrive Global, and Time Out New York. Rod is the co-author of How to Communicate Effectively with Anyone, Anywhere (Career Press 2021).

The Role of Communicators in the Mission and Emerging Future of Women Religious
Fr. James Martin, SJ
What role will communicators play in the mission and emerging future of religious institutes? How can communicators help carry Sisters’ missions forward in a changing landscape? We will explore these questions and more in dialogue with Father James Martin, S.J., Jesuit priest, author and editor at large at America Media.
Fr. James is the bestselling author of Jesus: A Pilgrimage, The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything, and Between Heaven and Mirth. Father Martin has written for many publications, including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and he is a regular commentator in the national and international media. He has appeared on all the major radio and television networks, as well as in venues ranging from NPR’s Fresh Air, FOX’s The O’Reilly Factor, and PBS’s NewsHour to Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report. Before entering the Jesuits in 1988, Father Martin graduated from the Wharton School of Business and worked for General Electric for six years. In 2017, Pope Francis appointed him to be a Consultor for the Vatican’s Secretariat for Communication.

The Changing Face of Nonprofit Communication
Brandon Rook – XXX – XXX
Brandon Rook is a creative storyteller and entrepreneur who was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The former award-winning television reporter worked in the news business for five years, making stops at local affiliates in Dothan, Alabama, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While in the news industry, Rook worked as a Multimedia Journalist and Reporter.
After 5 years in the business, Rook decided to switch careers, so he transitioned to Public Relations. In 2018, he began working for Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin as a Public Relations Manager. Within a year and a half Rook was able to help the college increase its media coverage by 300%. In this role, Rook successfully designed and executed public relations campaigns to increase awareness and bolster the reputation of the college.
In this role, Rook gained lots of experience across crisis communications, issues management, multimedia storytelling, marketing and communications strategy. Rook believes in this role he really became more adept at problem-solving, design thinking, building and sustaining strong relationships across organizations, and developing and managing brands.
After massive success at Carthage, Rook joined Newman’s Own Foundation in the summer of 2020 as their Public Relations Manager. His duties mainly consisted of proactively seeking opportunities to introduce the CEO, grantee partners, and the brand to reporters and editors in hopes of garnering positive media attention for the brand. Along with generating story ideas that align with the Newman’s Own strategic roadmap.
Within a year and a half with the company, he was promoted to his current position as Creative Manager. In his current role, Rook is responsible for using photography, video, and other multimedia approaches to gather, curate, and create visual assets for use on Newman’s Own Foundation communications platforms. He also manages and oversees all Newman’s Own Foundation social media platforms ensuring that the organization is collectively developing high-quality content and campaigns that grow and engage followers.
Rook is also a serial entrepreneur with his own creative agency, K’laab which is a black owned creative agency that helps businesses build their brands through marketing services such as photography, videography, graphic design, and website design. He’s also an investor in Real Estate, Cryptocurrency, and stocks. Brandon, who prefers to be called Rook, went to Alcorn State University where he graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism in 2012. Soon after, he earned a Master’s in Journalism from Ole Miss.
