board_screen_shot_webDear CWR Friends:

In the interest of keeping you informed, the Communicators for Women Religious Board of Directors shares highlights of our monthly meetings. The Board met via videoconference on Tuesday, March 22.

Sister Beth Kress opened the meeting with a prayer.

Minutes of the February Board meeting were approved, with one correction.

Board Chair Eileen Dickerson told members that representatives from CWR will be exhibiting again this year at the LCWR Assembly in Atlanta in August.

As Co-Chair of the Strategic Plan Implementation Committee, Eileen informed the Board that the committee will hold videoconference initial interviews with applicants for the new Executive Director position on March 23 and 24.

Coordinator Susan Oxley reported that she and the members of the Executive Team will meet next week by videoconference with accountants Nancy Gonsoriek, CPA and Cathy Brickey to be advised on new accounting procedures for CWR. Procedures are suggested best practice due to the increased revenue from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation grant.

Susan created a banner promoting Conference 2016, which is posted on the CWR website and on Facebook.

Membership Committee Chair Sarah Jenkins and her committee members are researching possible new dues structuring.

Conference 2016 Indianapolis: Committee Chair Kathy Gatliff said the 2016 Conference Committee is on track and starting the last lap to get all the details in place for the conference registration brochure. An item we will test drive is offering members a chance to apply for a scholarship to attend the conference. We know that some members’ congregations have limited funds, and by offering one complimentary night’s stay, in addition to covering the conference registration fees, we hope to give someone an opportunity that might not have been possible. (The award recipient would only be responsible for their travel and 2+ nights’ accommodations at the conference hotel.) More details will be sent out in the very near future! We look forward to your participation in the race to “Advance Your Mission” and “Turbocharge Your Communications” in Indianapolis Oct. 4–7!

Conference 2017 Niagara Falls: Committee Chair Dave Eck is welcoming members to the conference committee and will soon hold the first meeting.

The Marketing Committee’s mailing to U.S. congregations of Catholic sisters has thus far brought two new members into CWR. Co-Chair Jennifer Kaminski said that her committee is also working on materials for the LCWR New Leader Workshop and updating other CWR communications vehicles.

Development Committee Chair Kate Martin reported that her committee has obtained one sponsor and one exhibitor for Conference 2016.

Stephanie Hall suggested that the Board consider having a liaison representing CWR’s international members. Board members discussed whether this would come under the auspices of the Membership Committee, and Membership Committee Chair Sarah Jenkins said she believed that would be appropriate. The Board will take this suggestion into consideration.

CWR Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair Sister Beth Kress submitted a written report to the Board.

Next Board meeting: Videoconference, Tuesday, April 19.
