Dear CWR Friends:
In the interest of keeping you informed, the CWR Board of Directors shares highlights of our monthly meetings. The Board met in a videoconference on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Here are the highlights of that meeting:
The meeting opened with a prayer shared by Sister Paulette Gardner, SSA.
August Board meeting minutes were approved.
American City Bureau consultant Carl Meirose joined the meeting briefly to answer questions and receive comments on ACB’s Organizational Audit Report, prepared for CWR.
Executive Team Report: Chair Eileen Dickerson informed the Board that she and Coordinator Susan Oxley are receiving more and more contacts from individuals and organizations who want to connect with CWR to disseminate their message. She feels that this shows that CWR’s mission, presence and resources are becoming increasingly known and respected.
Hilton Grant Study Committee Chair Julie Gilberto-Brady and her committee are finalizing the details on the presentation of the new strategic plan to the members at the Conference in Albuquerque in October.
Conference 2015 Chair Stephanie Hall reported that there are 135 people registered for this year’s conference—our largest yet! Santa Fe Archbishop Emeritus Michael J. Sheehan and Alan Sanchez, CEO of CHI St. Joseph’s Children will attend Wednesday’s luncheon. Mr. Sanchez will do a presentation on the canonization process of Sister Blandina Segale, SC.
Conference 2016 Chair Kathy Gatliff said that the conference logo has been finalized and the committee is preparing the promotional flyer to distribute in the packets at the 2015 Conference. The committee asked for Board input on offering two ‘tracks’ at the conference [worth consideration] and whether to pursue livestreaming [we will take into consideration feedback and results from this year’s conference]. She added: “This year’s committee is turbocharged and moving forward at rapid speed!”
Marketing Committee: Board Chair Eileen Dickerson and Board Treasurer Sister Beth Kress staffed the CWR exhibit booth at the LCWR annual assembly in Houston. They were able to talk with many congregational leaders and made some follow-up contacts. CWR was asked to exhibit at the Religious Formation Conference in November but will need to budget for this next time. The CWR conference press release has been sent to LCWR, NRVC, CMSWR, NACAR, Global Sisters Report, the three dioceses in New Mexico, the Albuquerque Journal and T.V. stations. Marketing committee members will be reaching out to all of the nonmembers who are attending the conference.
Membership Committee: Membership/orientation committee members look forward to welcoming new CWR members at the conference orientation session in October.
Finance and Development Committee Chairs submitted written reports to the Board.
We’ll see you in Albuquerque!
