Dear CWR Friends:
In the interest of keeping you informed, the CWR Board of Directors shares highlights of our monthly meetings. The Communicators for Women Religious Board of Directors met in videoconference on Thursday, March 5, during which:
We began our meeting with The Communicators Prayer.
We approved the minutes of our February in-person Board meeting in Albuquerque, NM.
Sister Beth Kress, Treasurer, gave a statement on CWR’s current healthy financial status.
We continued moving forward with the strategic planning process, through the efforts of the Hilton Grant Implementation Committee, chaired by Julie Gilberto Brady. The process includes five in-person focus groups, three videoconferences and an online survey for CWR members and former members, as well as interviews with collaborators or other representatives from organizations with strong relationships with CWR. While the Board is driving the process to move this forward, engaging all members is a priority as the outcome must reflect the input and wishes of membership.
Conference 2015 Committee Chair Stephanie Hall reported that the committee is making great progress in lining up engaging speakers and workshop facilitators. The committee is also investigating transportation options for conference participants to visit Old Town Albuquerque and the Center for Action and Contemplation.
The Committee would like to thank Grace Skalski, who is stepping down from committee service, for her contributions to the conference planning.
Conference 2016 Committee Chair Kathy Gatliff reported that the committee’s first meeting will take place on March 24th. Kathy thanks those individuals who have volunteered to serve on the committee: Dave Eck, Denise Bunk-Hatch, Stephanie Hall, Judy Horak, Louise Koselak, Dawn Maas, Rosana Madrigal, Jean Merry, Cecilia Rupell. Kathy welcomes any other CWR members who are interested in serving on the Committee.
Development Committee Chair Kate Martin met with committee members in February and discussed possibilities for products, services and organizations for Conference sponsors and exhibitors. She will soon be sending a request to CWR members through the listserve for their ideas on potential products, services and organizations.
Communications Chair Stephanie Manseau submitted a report on the projects on which her committee will be working: a CWR organizational communications schedule, social media guidelines and a logo usage policy, as well as a crisis communications plan.
Marketing Committee Co-Chair Jennifer Kaminski reported that press releases announcing the new CWR executive team and new Board members were sent out. A press release announcing the new executive team, new Board members, new logo and website and the Hilton grant was developed and will be posted on the CWR website and Facebook page and sent to LCWR, NRVC, CPA, JS Paluch and CMSWR and others as designated.
The committee also finalized and approved the new CWR brochure. Copies of the brochure will be mailed to the LCWR New Leader Workshop.
Please call any CWR Board member if you have questions about this report.
Happy National Catholic Sisters Week!
