The CWR Board of Directors met via videoconference on Thursday, August 12. In the interest of keeping members informed, we present highlights from that gathering:
CWR Executive Director Ginny Hizer shared reflections on Colossians 3:23-24 while leading the opening prayer.
Board Corporate Secretary Tammy Townsend Denny will begin a new position in September, at which time Tammy’s CWR membership will change from individual to associate. While associate members are ineligible to serve as elected members of the Board, they may be appointed to the Board. A motion to appoint Tammy to the Board effective next month was accepted.
Maxine Kollasch, IHM, will complete her service as an appointed Board member at the end of this year. The Board will consider potential successors to Sr. Maxine and then meet with candidates for appointment.
The Board approved revisions to CWR Policies and Procedures proposed by Vice Chair Kim Westerman. Policy changes include updates to CWR’s international (“come-and-see”) conference scholarship program and revision of the structure of CWR international groups.
CWR Executive Director Ginny Hizer reported that a CWR Academy webinar focusing on direct mail fundraising will be held on August 26. The webinar was developed by the CWR Development Resource Group and the CWR Education Committee.
In her role as Conference Scholarship Committee Chair, Board Chair Jane Strittmatter noted that the committee has completed its review of scholarship applications and selected this year’s scholarship recipients.
Treasurer Jean Merry informed the Board that CWR’s 2020 audit has been completed.
Education Committee Chair Rob Cogswell previewed upcoming CWR webinars developed in collaboration with UISG.
Nominating Committee Chair Joanne Gallagher, CSJ, updated the Board on plans to disseminate 2022 Board nominee profiles to CWR membership.
Ginny Hizer delivered the 2022 Conference Planning Committee report on behalf of committee co-chair Siobhan O’Neill Meluso (who was unavailable for the Board meeting). The committee held its first meeting on July 15.
2021 Conference Planning Committee Chair Kim Westerman discussed opportunities for Board members to provide operational support during conference.
