The CWR Board of Directors met via videoconference on Thursday, January 14. The first meeting of the year was also the first for the 2021 CWR Executive Committee: Chair Jane Strittmatter; Vice Chair Kim Westerman; Treasurer Jean Merry; and Corporate Secretary Tammy Townsend Denny. In the interest of keeping members informed, we present highlights from that meeting:

Joanne Gallagher, CSJ, led the opening prayer, which included an excerpt from Pope Francis’s message for the World Day of Peace (January 1).

In her Executive Committee report, Jane Strittmatter reviewed revised committee liaison roles for Executive Team members and plans for the upcoming executive director performance review. Jane also provided an update on Cecilia Rupell’s resignation from the Board earlier in January.

The Board voted to require both the CWR conflict of interest disclosure statement and whistleblower policy to be completed by Board members annually.

The Board also voted to form a task group to review plans for the Cycling with Sisters initiative.

Executive Director Ginny Hizer recapped CWR’s December virtual educational offerings, informed the Board the CWR’s Payday Protection Plan loan forgiveness application has been submitted and requested the Board review and approve the revised 2021 Board handbook.

Membership Committee Chair Tammy Townsend Denny reported on an initial informal member Zoom discussion held on January 8. As the inaugural session met with a positive reception, the Board was advised that more such member-generated gatherings may be held in the future.
