The CWR Board of Directors met via videoconference on Thursday, March 11. In the interest of keeping members informed, we present highlights from that meeting:
CWR Executive Director Ginny Hizer shared a pair of New Testament verses – 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 and Romans 12:1-8 – while leading the opening prayer. Ginny also posed three questions for Board members to reflect on:
- What talents do you bring to the Board and CWR?
- How does serving on the Board hone your professional and personal skills?
- How can you use your service on the Board to address those areas you feel a need to enhance?
Board Vice Chair Kim Westerman requested Board members’ input on potential revisions to CWR’s bylaws and policies and procedures.
In her Executive Director’s report, Ginny Hizer noted that more than more than 500 individuals from ten countries registered for the Catholic Sisters Week virtual prayer service CWR and five collaborator organizations hosted on March 10. Ginny also reported that CWR has submitted a supplemental report to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation on the impact of COVID-19 on CWR.
Catholic Sisters Week Task Group Chair Linda Romey, OSB, informed the Board that approximately 150 events had been posted on the Catholic Sisters Week website. Many of the events were virtual and many were responses to LCWR’s food insecurity challenge.
Rob Cogswell outlined plans for upcoming CWR educational offerings during his Education Committee report.
Tammy Townsend Denny updated the Board on the Membership Committee initiatives focusing on new CWR members.
The Board reviewed promotional materials for the 2021 Board nomination process submitted by Nominating Committee Chair Joanne Gallagher, CSJ.
The Board next meets – again via video conference – on Thursday, April 15.
