The annual celebration of National Catholic Sisters Week takes place from March 8-14. Created to honor women religious, NCSW is a series of events that instruct, enlighten and bring greater focus to the lives of Sisters.

“We anticipate record participation in our sixth annual National Catholic Sisters Week,” said NCSW site director Molly Hazelton. “The desire to celebrate the legacy and ongoing impact of women religious runs deep!”

NCSW provides a chance to recognize all that women religious have done for us. It is also hoped that as more young women learn about women religious, more will choose to follow their example.

“In conjunction with this year’s celebration, we produced a documentary, ‘Missions of Hope,’ to illuminate the diversity and relevance of religious life,” said Hazelton. “It was created by young women — for young women. It will premiere online on March 8, the first day of National Catholic Sisters Week, on www.SisterStory.org.”

CWR will join the Catholic Sisters Week celebrations by partnering with Giving Voice, the Religious Formation Conference, the Center for the Study of Consecrated Life and the National Religious Vocation Council to host a free concert–“In Praise of Sisters”–by singer-songwriter Sara Thomsen on Monday, March 11 at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.
